There is an informal gathering of concerned citizens opposed to the zipline proposed for Lincoln Park:

Fauntleroy Community Association president Bruce Butterfield says Seattle Parks has agreed to send representatives to his group’s regular monthly meeting next Tuesday, July 10th, 7 pm, to talk about this. Location TBA – they usually meet in a conference room at The Hall at Fauntleroy but he is looking for a larger venue.

• Weds, July 18 (7 pm, Kenney) - Parks is on the schedule to do a presentation to the Morgan Community Association.• Sometime in August - Parks says it will do a community meeting on this project.

  • Mayor Mike McGinn - the Parks Dept. reports to him: mike.mcginn@seattle.gov 
  • Sally Bagshaw chairs the City Council’s Parks and Neighborhoods Committee – which would have to consider the proposal before it went to the full council, though that is the last stop along the line – sally.bagshaw@seattle.gov
  • Tom Rasmussen, the only City Councilmember who lives in West Seattle, is a member of that committee – tom.rasmussen@seattle.gov
  • Diana Kincaid chairs the Board of Park Commissioners, a citizen-comprised advisory board – correspondence goes through coordinator Sandy Brooks, sandy.brooks@seattle.gov

    1. If funding is the key issue here, perhaps this will provide a nexus for figuring out an alternative. I would donate every month...a small amount. Is there a way to do this? in other places I've lived (like Salt Lake City) they have had a sales tax that supports Zoos, Arts and Parks, but WA is so top-heavy with sales tax already, it seems like another method would be needed...just thinkin'.
